Tender issued for Singapore high speed route study
ASIA: Following the summit between Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong and his Malaysian counterpart Najib Razak earlier this month, the Singapore Land Transport Authority on April 11 called tenders for an engineering feasibility study to develop ‘feasible corridors’ for the Singapore section of the planned 330 route-km high speed line to Kuala Lumpur.
The study will ‘assess the technical feasibility of the possible corridors’, including the local transport connections to the three sites preliminarily selected for a Singapore station. These sites are at Tuas West, Jurong East and in the city centre, where a deep-level terminus would be required.
The study is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2015.
